Case Study: Managing contractors – You know, but do they know?

Case Study: Managing contractors – You know, but do they know?

The situation:

We developed a site-specific management plan for our client. This was distributed to their contractors.  The client collected evidence that one contractor had received the plan, but it wasn’t passed on to their workers.  Consequently, the workers exposed themselves, and others, to respirable asbestos fibres.

Problem to solve:

How can the PCBU have confidence their workers are competent to manage the risk of respirable asbestos?

MCG’s solution:

It is one thing to develop and issue the plan and another thing to have confidence that the necessary people have read it.

MCG’s asbestos management plans include contractor management processes. That way you can collect evidence that people have read and understood the plan, and feel confident to undertake the work.  Our clients are also able to record who has been asbestos aware trained and maintain these records on our client portal.
